Life is the only game in which the object of the game is to learn the rules,” observes author Ashleigh Brilliant. He also asked the question,” Why does life keep giving me lessons I have no desire to learn?
Everything has been turned upside down, shaken up and rolled out into the air for review. The rules in the game of life are nowhere to be found and new ones are needed in order to move forward. Well, at least that is what it feels like! Are you ready to write new rules for yourself? I am not talking about the rules that keep us safe, I am talking about personal, individual rules to live by. You know the ones that we tell ourselves are to be strictly observed.
In the new game, you get to set your dreams and how you want to get there. Locking yourself in self-limiting expectations of only one possible way to succeed is the old game. Expectations in this way often equals limitation and by no means is the new game set up for limiting success!
So, I gave the new game a try. Here are my top ten new rules for myself this week. I hope to add and/or change them often.
Rule 1- Say what you want. That will be your best chance of getting it.
Rule 2- When you see strength in people, you help them see strength in themselves.
Rule 3- Do what’s right for you, even if it is not the most popular move.
Rule 4- Charm and diplomacy are always winners.
Rule 5-Knowing times of disharmony help you recognize peace when it arrives.
Rule 6- Undervaluing your contribution in any situation is harmful. Over giving can lead to resentment. Be generous, cautiously.
Rule 7- Relationships are a skill worth learning.
Rule 8- Kindness always counts.
Rule 9- Learning to focus (mindfulness) is a worth the effort.
Rule 10- Shine your light, even if others can’t see the light.
Discovering and creating new rules for yourself is the way to navigate through the unknown. Be alert for breakthroughs in all areas of life and give yourself a trophy when warranted. Whether you write new rules or just smile at mine, make peace with the knowledge of knowing that the rules have changed and that learning new rules is the objective and ok.
Love to all,
