Christmas isn’t just a day, it’s a frame of mind.
Valentine Davies, “Miracle on 34th St.”
The air has a feeling of Christmas! Just saying the words “Merry Christmas” to people you know and those you have never met before, shifts the energy of the moment to an uplifting swirl that is catchy. Say it often and say it loud, the world is ready for a blast of cheer and good wishes!
The ‘Christmas Star’ shines bright in is sky. Even though it is no longer visible, the historic alignment of Saturn and Jupiter on the December 21, 2020, planetary conjunction, created the ‘Christmas Star’. This alignment is the closest the two planets have appeared together in about 800 years and will not happen again until 2080. What a year end treat and reminder of the incredibly rare time of change we are in!
Change is not magic. It takes effort to shake off the jingle bells and shift your brain to fully engage in the spirit of giving, receiving, and overeating. Much of this effort involves gratitude for the moment, gratitude for memories and gratitude for what is to come.
If you find yourself alone or with only a few family members, you can create or elevate a Christmas frame of mind by baking cookies, enjoying the sounds of music, and looking in the cabinet to bust out the cinnamon! I hope you can find ways to get all five senses involved!
Families across the globe pass down Christmas traditions to the next generations. If you cannot fully enjoy old traditions, this is a perfect year to start new ones. A friend of mine gifted me a Christmas Key, engraved with our last name and a beautiful medallion of Santa. When I showed it to our grandkids, they immediately thought of how we can use it every year to open a portal to sharing gifts. I assure you; I did not see that tradition coming!
On a real note… If a solitary mood sets in for parts of the holiday, embrace it! Then use it as a chance to hear the wisdom and quiet messages from your heart. Make a promise to be there for yourself and accept yourself for who and where you are now. Always remember positive self-talk, even if you are melancholy. After such a stress filled year, it will certainly be expected and appropriate to reflect. When you make the commitment to honor all feelings and choices, you will remain balanced and in clear awareness of those around you. Next year will be better.
Even if packages did not arrive or Christmas Cards are lost in the post office abyss the above quote sums up the perfect explanation of what makes the Christmas Spirit special. We do! It is up to each of us to hold the Christmas frame of mind, at least for a few minutes every day.
In the Spirit of Christmas everywhere, bring out the best emotions possible. Keep Hope, Love and Joy alive in everything!
Merry Christmas to All ~~
Love,
Cindi
