February 2nd was Groundhog Day. Traditionally the day is celebrated with all eyes on Punxsutawney Phil as the celebrity. If he sees his shadow, we will have six more weeks of winter; if he does not, there will be six weeks until spring! All in good fun, Phil did see his shadow predicting six more weeks of winter. However, according to statistics he is only around 39% accurate!
Regardless of that outcome, the Numerology of February 2021 is the Universal “7”. The “7” is all about deeper meaning with a dreamy, mystical vibe that encourages all of us to go within. February’s energy is in perfect sync with self-inquiry and personal awareness and growth.
How much you emotionally invest in the person you perceive yourself to be will determine how much or little you will be willing to change, or affirm, that perception. Embracing all parts of ourselves, losing the labels we have given ourselves or allowed others to give us is now up for review. Too deep? Well, not for the month of February. Self-identity can be a distraction and possibly become the root of our own deception holding us back from new, more fitting identifies for the future. The everyday twists and turns of life need careful consideration when it comes to self-evaluation. This task takes great skill to manage the sharp edges with wisdom and grace.
Subconscious pictures become maps for self-identity creating complex bits of information, some contradictory and some spot on to where we are in the now. Determining what to keep and what to revise is a worthy goal. Choosing to explore, can be just the refresh button you need.
While Self-Identification and “Groups” give us a sense of social identity, a kind of belonging in a social world, these values can change. It gets really deep really fast, but just to make a point; In the 1980’s people who worked at a computer were called “computer nerds.” Well, it did not take long for all of us to become glued to our devices making everyone I can think of a “computer nerd.” In just a generation, the computer user went from being “nerds” to “socially savvy.”
This February is also the host of the first Mercury Retrograde of the year, encompassing January 30th through February 20th. Mercury Retrograde is astro-termonology meaning Mercury, the messenger planet, appears to stop and move backwards from its orbit.
What it means in our personal world is that during this time, technology and communication can feel like they are being disrupted. This is largely due to the scattered energy that causes some to feel unfocused and anxious. (If I am having computer or phone problems, I am certain I will react!) There are lots of do’s and don’ts during any retrograde. Some of my favorite do’s are, be extra mindful to think before you speak, let go of old grudges, and monitor your finances, contracts, and new projects with an eagle eye. My favorite don’ts to remember are, wait if you can to buy electronics, cars, or anything with moving parts. And my most favorite is, do not trust your memory!
I like to talk about the personal level of most subjects, however the effects of Mercury Retrograde will impact everyone and everything from a global perspective to the individual family and everything in between. Fortunately, you really do not need to make earth-shaking leaps to get where you want to go. Looking within and doing small things a little better consistently will help you to improve and form new habits!
Love to all,
