Through these blogs, I mostly talk about possibilities, opportunities, and information in broad terms in order that everyone has the chance to filter their personal situations. Some months the connections to our real life are clear, while others leave us wondering “What do the themes and messages look like in real life?” Life in 2021, so far, has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs. Learning to roll with the punches and to be grateful for finding solutions takes trusting that “everything you need will show up at the perfect time.” However, sometimes it takes a rear view of the event to see the value in all situations. It has been especially rough the past weeks. Changes are happening fast and furious, draining and replenishing our energy seemingly at the same time. Mercury Retrograde, has allowed us to slow down and see what needs fixing. The Solar New Moon has offered momentum in a meaningful way. The Eclipse has shined brighter light to see new directions.
This week, with my family’s permission, I decided to share a personal Retrograde, New Moon Eclipse story;
Looking at a series of events in retrospect helps us to recognize the good, the bad, the unnerving, helpful people and perfect timing that worked in a synchronized line up. It gives a better view of how, when we roll with the punches, the positive and challenging moments can all work together for a wonderful result. Trusting that what you need will show up when you need it is a skill that takes patience and practice. Recently, Bart and I were given ample opportunity to practice trusting, patience and much more.
Two weeks ago, our metal chimney cover flew off our condo in Dallas. We were not there, but our very nice neighbor picked it up out of the street and placed it on our front porch. Knowing we do not have a working fireplace, we were not upset or worried about the rainy weather. We assumed the facade opening was securely sealed and avoided rushing to Dallas to find a fix. However, we did take action by calling our daughter-in-law who knows a guy and asked her to please set up an appointment. We continued to believe we were in no rush and felt comfortable that at some point the near future when he could fit us in, the problem would be taken care of.
When we arrived in Dallas a week later the weather changed from sunshine back to torrential downpours. Bart was sitting at his desk on the third floor and starting hearing dripping water. Taking a closer look, he found water coming through the ceiling. Yikes! Avoiding the chimney problem was over!
Hair on fire we decided that a quick and best would be to place a tarp over the opening. (Easier said than done!) After a quick trip to a nearby store, we then executed a confident but perhaps not the smartest decision. Bart, who is afraid of heights, went up on the perch of our three-story condo with a ladder and proceeded to climb on the very pitched roof in the pouring rain.
Standing at the bottom of the stairs to the roof opening, along with the rain, I heard what I hoped was the sound of the ladder hitting the floor of the perch. I knew for certain that the loudest sound was my heart! After a quick look, and thankfully realizing that the noise was in fact the ladder, I went up and out on the perch, picked up the ladder, handed Bart the straps and watch him balance on a four-inch pitch! That was my moment of, “I can’t believe we are doing this!!” He proceeded to strap the tarp in place and successfully slide back down to the solid surface. Aside from being very wet, everything went ok, thankfully!
When the rain finally stopped, there was a knock on the door. It was our son and daughter-in-law. We asked her to give the guys another call and hopefully move up on their schedule. She left a message.
Bart and I were planning to leave late that afternoon and with a new urgency to the repair, we did not feel good about having to ask someone to be there. Then a surprise twist happened. Just like in the movies, the doorbell rang, and without notice or a return call, six men were at our front door ready and obviously more capable them we were to fix our problem. Ironically, they had time in their schedule and stopped to see if we were there! What great timing!! They did a wonderful job, and before the repair and afternoon was over, with a collaboration in the most wonderful way, a new Handy Man Business was started!
Bart and I were back in Austin by 10:00pm with a fixed chimney, confidence, and a reminder that everything shows up at the right time, even if you try to mess it up by doing things that are not so smart!! The drive home was filled with lots of looking back at parts of the day, taking in and processing with gratitude, reflecting on what parts of the day we would redo and those we will never do again. Now that is a Mercury Retrograde-Eclipse Day!
I am sure you can tell a similar story of ups, downs, and lots of sideways happenings from the past weeks! While you are rolling with the punches, be patient with everyone and everything and keep the faith that ALL is working out for YOUR highest good!
