Why is it that just when you think you have finished picking up all of 2020’s Christmas decorations, one more shows up! Of course, everyone has a different style of cleaning up and packing away for the next year. Some just scoop it all into a bag quickly, while others meticulously label and store into perfectly designed containers. Well, I would bet most Christmas decorators take the somewhere in the middle approach to clearing out the season. Every year I say I will do better next year! But no matter what technique you use, it is time to not only finish cleaning up the holiday residue, but also time to finish cleaning up some parts of life we let get away from us during last year.
The New Moon this month, January 13th is aligned in the sign of Capricorn. Task Master is one of the traits given to the sign of the Goat. This New Moon encourages total focus on getting things done. Whether we realize the connection or not, the sun, moon and stars all play a role in our daily lives, just ask a farmer! This Moon is giving all of us a kick of encouragement on the tasks in front of us. So, cleaning up the decorations and storing them for next year can not only put a check mark on your to do list, but it can also help align your space with calm and balance.
By the way, if you have a casual interest in knowing your personal astrology you can find info on many sites. Just for general information, your personal Moon sign describes your emotional nature while your Sun sign describes the part of your personality that you show the world. So, with so much Universal Capricorn energy (meaning for everyone) tied up in our emotions this part of the month, we all have a chance to create some serious order in our lives.
It has been said, “How you do one thing is how you do everything.” I hope that is not literal! That being noted, there is a lot of truth in the value of preparation, especially in the basics of life. There are a lot of different ways to get the job done, but ultimately you must find your starting point. One of the first basic rules of life and a great starting point that I know to be true is “You have to see it, to be it” or my favorite way of preparing is “Visualize – Materialize.”
To the untrained observer, the challenge may seem like a drag or chore. But what if you looked at it as game. Create a board in your mind and place yourself at the starting line, or create multiple pieces, and lay them out in a manageable, easy to see way. Use any method you know or can think of to help you see the next step in your plan. Netflix produced a series titled “The Queen’s Gambit.” If you have already seen the show, you have a visual of the board I am talking about. If you have not seen the show, I am going to make a rare recommendation, if for no other reason, than to watch and understand the use of “Visualize – Materialize.”
Take your time in planning your long-term goals. Nurture dreams in a realistic manner. It is not always easy to see ourselves in new roles or territory. Simply moving into new situations will not heal old wounds or previous missteps. However, if you take a closer look, see the situation for what it is and plan for adjustments, this attention to detail will help find your starting point, guide you past the mess and make the clean up or next move easier.
If you have not seen the “Queens Gambit,” this will be a “Spoiler Alert.” The main character not only used visualization, but she also embraced repetition to find the right moves, strategies, and patterns she wanted to use. The repetition part of her practice can serve as a reminder that if we achieve on the first try great, but for many of us, practice, practice, practice is helpful.
The Capricorn Goat’s constructive traits are resourcefulness, discipline, ambition, and wisdom, to name a few. We are now headed toward the middle of the month and you may be sailing along with your new and defined vision for 2021. But if you are not quite there, I hope you use this New Moon’s powerful timeframe as a starting point to visualize whatever you want to materialize this year.
Love to all,
