“If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve (or save) the world and a desire to enjoy (or savor) the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.” E.B. White
The conundrum is summed up beautifully by the “Charlotte’s Web” author. What is our expectation for the day? What is the best plan?
We are approaching the first anniversary of the COVID pandemic. After living through a full year of stressful situations, isolation, and constant negative, who would not want to improve, well…everything! But at the same time, being responsible and going into seclusion totally shut down the way we enjoy life as we knew it, making the above statement by E.B. White current and accurate as we attempt to balance our days.
Planned or unplanned events, especially big ones that we experience call up an inner fire we probably did not know we had. Whether they are welcome or ones we would have avoided, they are the exact moments you look back on and recognize as predestined, aiding in advancement. Why? Because they make us better! Now, I know that people may not agree, and that others might say, “Too Soon!”, but here we are moving solidly into 2021 and while we are still facing changes and challenges. We also have a long list of positive changes that we will definitely keep around.
As we look back, we realize after a year of losing our autotomy we must retrain to trust ourselves in choosing what is right for us going forward, while being confident we can balance saving our health and enjoy life at the same time. We have been under mandates for so long, we are out of practice using critical thinking to make choices for ourselves and our family members. For some, it may be scary to let go of the reins of restrictions and trust ourselves and others again. However, like any other muscle, use it or lose it. Failure to do so might demand a high price!
As the states re-open their doors, we will all be engaging in a learning curve of how best to proceed. One way many have thrived during this past year was to treat all constraints as creative challenges. For everyone in that category, this is no time to stop. And if the concept is new to you, please start immediately! By shifting the view of the challenge from fear (save) to creative (enjoy), you approach life from a place of trying to make things work. Your attitude will make all the difference and with 2020 behind us, we have so much more information to work with. It is time to lighten up our thoughts and feelings and take inventory of where we are on an individual level and proceed accordingly. You and only you know what is best for you!
Breaking News: We are dealing with much more than our own energy; we are also feeling the energy of the collective. We are all connected! If you find yourself feeling light and enjoying life, but notice you are surrounded by others in a heavier place, (or vice versa), you might feel the need to help them see your light (save). Try hard take a breath and wait to be asked. Be careful not to let controversy and energy drains dilute your joy. By sending out positive, light intentions for the highest good of everyone through your energy fields, you are doing much more to improve the world than you realize, and you will enjoy the positive boomerangs.
When planning your day, be sure to add “BREATHE” to every hour. It will help you lighten up and rise to both save and savor any schedule!
