In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity. – Albert Einstein –
Today is the last official day of March 2022. In unexpected twists and turns, this
month seemed a lot longer than 31 days!
March has been all about closure, a time of drawing away and hopefully making
space for all things ‘new.’ The sole purpose of the last month was encouraging us
to purge mentally and physically to free up our time, our attention, and our lifeforce
energy.
As we finish out this jam-packed Numerology 9 Month of endings, it can be helpful
to look backwards. Acknowledging (or at least digesting) what benefits the energy
of March offered can be instrumental in moving forward.
You never know what inspiration might jar your brain to shift in a new direction of
thought and action. I recently read a short blurb about Betty Crocker turning 100
last year. I was so intrigued, that I continued to read more about Betty’s story. The
topic was a definite left turn of my attention, especially because I am not much into
cooking!
My intrigue was focused on the success of a brand and a company that has not
only survived, but is still prominent on every grocery store shelf, not to mention the
“Big Red Cookbook,” which has been a staple in kitchens since 1921.
I also could not help but compare the return of focus on our home and home life.
The idea of what a Homemaker is has shifted to include every member of the
household. Recognizing each member of the ‘home team’ and their importance in
contributing to domestic tranquility is the updated memo.

Because we have spent so much time quarantined in our homes, the same values
of 100 years ago are back in focus for us to follow. I find the Betty Crocker
Homemakers’ Creed is still surprisingly relevant.
General Mills understood that people were looking for a Champion to follow and
they created one for the world. The company has been very successful with their
signature “Betty Crocker” products. Here is the point as I understand it. In the early
years of introducing their boxed cake mix, the first try was a failure.
The original product was the total package. All you had to do is add water. When
they changed the recipe adding a step for the user to add an egg and oil, sales
went up. They recognized that adding (even small) steps for the consumer to
participate made them feel like a part of the creation. It has been a winning recipe
ever since.
Now it is time for us to focus on what we will create next. Remaining a part of the
process is essential to fill your new next.
Betty has proven starting from scratch is not always necessary. I hope you find a
recipe or champion in your search of what to do next. Then take an active part in
the process of copying and tweaking it to fit where you are headed.
Love to all,
Cindi
