During this last week of April 2022, we move into new energy territory. The Zodiac sign
of Taurus (April 20 – May 20) brings a vibe that insists we aspire to higher consciousness
not despite, but through, our individual perspectives.
After a month of ‘Spring Cleaning’, we are all more resilient than usual. With so much
purging of ‘stuff’ on all levels this month, we are left with a relatively clean slate. One
caveat; There are few things in life more terrifying than too many choices!
New values? New desires? New priorities? New relationships?
This is the time of year to renew commitment and dedication to living the life you feel
most worthy of.
The mind is tricky. With such perception of open spaces to potentially fill, staying focused
might be challenging especially during this last week of April. Over thinking,
daydreaming, worry or whatever could start to get in the way. If you find yourself in this
territory, gently, but firmly, without getting upset or judging yourself for straying, simply
find a method to refocus and stop the Monkey Brain from taking over.
Meditation is always on the list of ways to quiet the mind and let clear thoughts come to
the surface. However, not all of us enjoy sitting still and quiet. Whether you are into
meditation or not, there is much to learn from observing the concepts of the exercise.
One of India’s most ancient techniques of
meditation is Vipassana. Translated, the word
Vipassana means “to see things as they actually
are.”
This meditation, also known as insight
meditation, is a process of retraining the mind.
The practice leads to self-observation into the
basic reality of whatever is being inspected. The
aim is to become totally aware of everything that
is happening in your own perceptual universe.

Vipassana involves observing your thoughts and emotions without judgment. Now that
could be a great starting point when deciding on additions to add into your newly
cleared slate/life.
Being ready to take on the world starts with welcoming the new part you are ready to take
on. Giving yourself the time and attention you need to focus and present yourself the
way you want to be is beneficial for both your mind and body. Right now, (always) the
details will make a difference!
Good luck with your new territory and finding your Vipassana.
How to do it
If you’re interested in trying Vipassana meditation at home, follow these steps:
1. Set aside 10 to 15 minutes to practice. It’s recommended that you do Vipassana when
you first wake up in the morning.
2. Choose a quiet area with little to no distractions. An empty room or a secluded spot
outside are great choices.
3. Sit on the ground. Cross your legs in a comfortable position. Engage your core,
straighten your back, and relax your body. (A straight back is the desired position, but
can also be achieved from a straight backed chair)
4. Close your eyes and breathe normally. Focus on your natural breath and what you feel.
5. Be mindful of each inhale and exhale. Observe your thoughts, feelings, and sensations
without reacting or judging.
6. If you become distracted, simply observe the distraction and return to your breath.
7. Aim to do this for at least 5 to 10 minutes when you first start. As you get used to this
practice, work up to 15 minutes or longer of Vipassana meditation.
Love to all,
